  • Common Core Problem Based Learning (PrBL) curriculum maps (for grades 3 through Algebra II) - The problems and tasks have been scoured from thoughtful math bloggers who have posted their materials online.
  • Explore Fractals from the Fractal Foundation -
    • download the amazing, FREE fractal explorer, XaoS, which lets you zoom into mathematical fractals.
    • Fractivities are hands-on projects that teach fractal concepts in a fun, artistic way. Students utilize their math skills in real-world applications and also work together as a team to create large fractal designs. Easily incorporate teaching fractals in your classroom, combining science, math and art!
  • GeoGebra - Free software for Geometry, Algebra and Calculus. It has received several international awards.You must first DOWNLOAD the program.
  • Global Math Department - Register for or view recordings of webinars given by fellow math teachers.
  • Math Twitter Blogosphere - If you're looking to connect with other math teachers. Find profiles of math teachers who blog and twitter.
  • Math Forum - K-12 collections of some of the best Internet resources for arithmetic, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus and statistics.
  • The Math Learning Center offers a variety of free products for all grade levels. Unless otherwise noted, all of these resources can be used with any math curriculum.
  • Math Munch - A weekly digest that curates some of great mathematical resources of the internet.
  • The National Science Digital Library has a Math Common Core collection that might be helpful. Everything is free.

ALGEBRA

  • Get the Math is about algebra in the real world. See how professionals use math in music, fashion, video games, restaurants, basketball, and special effects. Then take on interactive challenges related to those careers.

CALCULATORS
  • Graph.tk is a free online graphing utility found in the Google Chrome Web Store. Graph.tk allows you to plot multiple functions through its dynamically resizing grid. To graph an equation, just delete the existing default equations and click the "+" symbol to enter a new equation.
  • Graphing Calculator - Free. No installation, no downloads
  • Microsoft Mathematics provides a graphing calculator that plots in 2D and 3D, step-by-step equation solving, and useful tools to help students with math and science studies.
  • Web2.0calc is a free online scientific calculator. Three widgets are available that you can use to embed the calculator into your own blog or website.

CAREERS that use Math:
  • XP Math Careers Database - This database contains information on math jobs and math topics. You can start to explore in two ways:
    • Search by Math Topics will allow you to select a math topic to find out what jobs require it.
    • Search by Jobs will allow you to select a job to find out what math skills it requires.
  • Why Must I Learn Math has a section on the various careers that incorporate math skills into their job descriptions.


COMPLEX MATH Templates:
Microsoft has add-ins to Office. The Mathematics add-in uses 3-D graphs and charts to help educators illustrate complex math problems and concepts. The templates are created specifically for the educational setting.

GAMES:
  • HoodaMath.com is a free online math games site. It offers more than 500 free math games for grades K-12.
  • Knowledgehook Game Show - online game show that targets mathematics for grades 3 through Algebra II
  • Tux Math Scrabble - free software for grades 6-12. It challenges students to construct compound equations and to consider many possibilities. There are four skill levels for practice, from basic addition and subtraction through multiplication and division. This software includes a data recorder interface for student performance assessment.

GEOMETRY:

  • Conic Sections as the Locus of Perpendicular Bisectors is an interactive website which allows the user to visualize changing the focus, diameter, and center locus of a circle. Part of the Geometer's Sketchpad site.
  • Geometry in Action mainly shows real-world applications and links to websites about the applications and the geometric principles behind them.
  • Open Math Reference - Using interactive tools and compelling animations, it provides an engaging way to learn and explore geometry.
  • Sketchometry- free, interactive construction and exploration tool that lets users sketch geometric drawings and plot graphs,then converts the drawings into geometric constructions, which can be modified and dragged around.

  • Desmos - Graph functions, plot data, evaluate equations, explore transformations, and much more – for free!


HANDOUTS:
  • Fabulous handouts that you can create online can be found at Dynamic Paper. No matter what shape, figure, size, there is a simple plug-in the numbers guide to help you create the perfect handout. (geometric shapes, grids, number lines, spinners, tessellations, graph paper and more).
  • Math Worksheet Center- has all kinds of worksheets grouped by mathematical topic and grade level.

  • Math TV provides online lessons on topics from Basic Math to Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and even Calculus.
  • Virtual Nerd PlaylistThis math and science tutoring website offers tutorials for students grades 7-12. It has a playlist feature that allows you to bookmark video tutorials, practice problems, add notes and share playlist


Lesson Plans and Activities

  • Estimation 180 - Present your students with an estimation challenge each day to help improve both their number sense and problem solving skills.
  • Howtosmile.org- Math and science activities. This was voted 2012 Best Website Winner by the American Association of School Librarians.
  • Mathematics Assessment Project - Classroom Challenges that support teachers in formative assessment. There are 100 lessons for grades 6-high school. Very thorough, even including projector slides.
  • Robert Kaplinsky - real world problem based lessons for Kindergarten through Algebra II

  • Think Central, offers K-12 math manipulatives. From basic math concepts to middle-grade geometry and algebra, Think Central is thorough.

Statistics

  • Census at School - an international classroom project that engages students in grades 4–12 in statistical problem solving. Students complete a brief online survey, analyze their class census results, and compare their class with random samples of students in the United States and other countries.
